Good place to go if you want self catering and are hiring a car....free parking.
Aparthotel, 5 minutes walk from La Cite, not so close for main area of Carcassonne (15 minutes). The aparthotel had what you need if you want to stay in and cook. Was a lovely little bakers across the road for fresh bread at breakfast. We hired a car and toured a different bit of the laungedoc each day. Secure/free parking was great. Close to major road links without having to drive through busy town. We found a lovely restaurant in La Cite that we went to most nights - Auberge Medieval - with great set menus. Only criticism was that we were there 5 nights and towels weren’t changed at all during that time, although they gave you a couple each to start! would definitely stay again in this accommodation.
