new hotel with the charm of a century old resort

When we first arrived, I assumed the hotel had been there a hundred years, but learned it had only opened in April, 2009. The check-in process was at a seated desk usually reserved in most hotels for vip’s only. I bought a piece of art at the gallery in the lobby, had drinks at the bar and enjoyed a fabulous dinner in the Red Stag dining room of elk medallions with impeccable service. The room was spectacular with a state of the art FREE on-demand movies, internet, etc. Overall, the best hotel experience I can recall in years, especially in the US.

Needless to say, October with the Fall foliage is the best time to visit, although the surrounding scenery is wonderful all year long.

Great Hotel

We had dinner at the Bar and the food was great. The bath tubs are amazing but there was no bubble bath or anything similiar to it. so you might want to take yours. The beds were really comfortable. also ask to be in the main building. It was great.

Great Place

They’re new, so theyre out to prove themselves. We really enjoyed ourselves-- the rooms were nice, the atmosphere is great, and the concierge service was extremely welcoming. My only issue would be that one did have to drive downtown, rather than being able to walk, which would have been nice. Otherwise, a completely A+ experience.
