Nice location, tired ,dated hotel.
Foghorn was probably built in the 50’s and hasn’t been updated. Kind of small dark rooms, tiny bathroom. The only great thing was the view of the harbor and beach. My husband thought it definately wasn’t worth what we paid for our room.

Good location
Many rooms have balconies overlooking the marina. Not far from Venice beach, LAX and Santa Monica, free parking, pathway by marina, cycle hire and it being a smaller hotel made this a pleasant, unpretentious change from the big chains or boutique hotels. Hotel staff not particularly friendly but room was cleaned well and assistance was not needed.
Boat hire of all types and sizes, cycle hire at the beach end of Washington Boulevard for following the beach trail north to Santa Monica, also hire place just south of the marina if you want to head towards Manhattan/Newport Beach.

Good place to stay
Only stayed one night but there were no problems at all. Room was ok, breakfast was fine and staff friendly.
A small beach is at the back of hotel and it is a 10 minute walk to Venice Pier
