Beautiful hotel and location, disappointed with room
Our family of 4 chose this hotel based on the guest reviews and info on expedia. The hotel is located in beautiful Poipu. The grounds, pool, ocean view, and hotel lobby and surroundings are luxurious. But we were disappointed with the room. It was a 2-bdrm on the ground floor. Although clean and fully equipped, it needed some updating (dirty grout, outdated appliances, older furnishings). I don’t consider myself super picky, but for the price I was expecting more. It took a really long time to walk from the parking lot to the room, so ask for a room close to the lot if that’s important to you. The garden area outside our room needed some attention. You’re asked to take out your own trash. Most of the cans outside fill up during the day, and people put their leftover garbage bags on the ground. The internet connection (an additional fee) worked for only 30 minutes on the first night. You can definitely hear your neighbors if they’re making any noise at all. We ended up staying only one night because there was a roach in our bathroom--not something I could deal with because we had two toddlers in our party. Instead of apologizing and offering us another room, the hotel offered to spray some pesticide in our bathroom so no more bugs would come in. No thanks. On the upside, expedia was very helpful in dealing with the situation. We went back to the Outrigger Waipouli Beach Resort & Spa. It’s on the east side of Kauai and just fantastic, for about the same price as The Point.

excellent service/beautiful place to stay
we enjoyed staying at the point at poipu hotel. we were like a two-minute walk from the beach, very beautiful scenery. employees/workers were very helpful and accomodating. their housekeeping service was really great, they even washed our dirty dishes and pots/pans. we felt at home due to their friendliness and smile. some grocery stores nearby. to save some money from dining out, we purchased groceries such as salmon, meat, veggies and ice cream. cooked in the morning and night. there are small shopping villages nearby too. the hotel is about 30 minutes away from hanalei bay. i do recommend this hotel, price is reasonable and great place to stay. the only negative comment is.. when we first got in to our room, there was like a smell of cigarette so we opened the patio door all the way to get rid off the smell.

Can’t Wait to go back Next Year.
This hotel was by far the best place to stay for my first time to Kauai. I would highly recommend this resort for anyone traveling to Kauai. Beautiful grounds, nice people, surroundings breath taking.
This is a very friendly resort for couples that have kids. We highly recommend Captain Andy’s to snorkel with the kids. My three kids have not stopped talking about this activity and cannot wait to do this again.
