Aloft is a great place to stay
I really like this place. Its fun, modern and the staff is friendly (though slightly understaffed). Its 20 minute walk from UMN campus - across the bridge. Five minute walk from Metrodom light rail station so no car is necessary if youre doing business on campus. Nice little bar with good snacks in the lobby.

Hip and trendy, just a little noisy
My husband and I traveled to Minneapolis for a short break, and decided to try this new hotel. We really liked it, especially the convenience of getting a snack or beverage right in the lobby (rather than from a vending machine). One big problem though was the POUNDING that started each morning between 8 - 9am. We were on vacation, and not necessarily wanting to wake up early, and this was quite disturbing. There is some construction going on in the lower levels, in what I believe is property not owned by the hotel. But since our room was directly over it, we were subject to the noise. I suggest if you are there to relax, request a room closer to the condos or the elevators, which might be further from the noise. The Bliss products in the shower were awesome. We also like the underground parking, and while pricey, was worth it for us. A bit of a walk to get to our car, but it was ok.

Affordable Luxury
The Hotel is everything the description says and a little more. The staff was available 24/7 and happy to help with every request. From providing at no charge specialty cables so we could watch movies from laptop on their large screen Plasma in room to providing transportation and tourist advice. The staff sets this place apart from other hotels.
