You get what you pay for
It’s one of two adjacent (the other’s a Hilton) hotels in an odd little light industrial nook just outside JFK. Pluses are it’s pretty new, reasonably priced and they run a shuttle bus from the airport to the hotel and, at certain times, to the nearby Federal Circle Airtrain which then connects to the subway system. Minuses are it’s sited on an access road in a light industrial area and there are little or no services (restaurants, retail of any kind including convenience stores) which means you’re heavily dependent on the hotel’s offerings, which are limited. The rooms are appointed as you’d expect a Sheraton to be HOWEVER the hotel itself feels more like something a notch down in category. It IS very convenient if you’re catching an early morning flight out of JFK, albeit not as convenient as hotels which are actually within an airport’s grounds.
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Understand you’re a good distance from both public transport and any sites you’d want to see. It’s about a $50 cab ride from Manhattan and is not on the JFK grounds.

Over priced for what you get
I selected this hotel because of the advertised amenities,e.g.,restaurant, lounge, and pool. While those amenities exist they are extremely modest and not worth the price. My particular reservation, for which I had written confirmation from hotels.com was not on file on site and I was forced to pay again for the rooms I had already paid for. This was subsequently corrected, but not for some days after a number of conversations, phone calls, and general aggrivation. This was compounded by the staff’s indifference to my situation. On my return flight I booked rooms in a hotel that was half the price. It didn’t have the amenities of this one, but the staff was extremely helpful, the room comparable and was surrounded by restaurants that suited our needs, it was also closer to the airport. In summary, this hotel does not provide the value that one would expect at this rate, not even close.
