time to renovate
The westin is in prime location. I was excited to return to chicago with a friend. I usually stay with friends or family, but decided to treat myself. Staying on Michigan Ave, would not be my first choice- because I enjoy shopping on Amritage and hanging out in Lincoln Park/ Lakeview area. I chose the Westin and the Michigan Ave view room thinking it would be a bit of a treat. The room was fine. I thought it would be something a little more special. I will not stay at the Westin again, unless they renovate. I am more likely to stay at the W on Lakeshore than the westin. The room was smaller and no real upgrades that would distinguish it from a Holiday Inn. The staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel is not quiet, you will hear the sounds of the city all night long. doors slamming, people in the halls, horns beeping... Just not impressed.
take public transportation- to and from Michigan ave is so easy to get on the bus! You can take a quick trip to the Lincoln Park Zoo, or anywhere just go on the CTA website and type in the locations and it will tell you exactly what to do.

I love the Westin on Michigan Avenue
I have stayed at other hotels in Chicago, but I am now fairly committed to staying at the Westin on Michigan Avenue whenever possible. The staff is always very professional, friendly, and accommodating. I was particularly impressed with one of the bartenders at The Grille named Alex who returned a lost fleece pullover to us that we had inadvertently left in the bar (this was on top of remembering what we drank and generally providing excellent service). The location of the Westin on Michigan Avenue is great. The bar and restaurant are fabulous. I will be back, hopefully soon!
