Had a wonderful time!
We picked this hotels from a selection on the website for a romantic getaway to Crete, and although we were a bit apprehensive at first we were pleasantly suprised. Tucked away in Rethimnon Old Town this lovely little hotel is run by Angelika a very nice lady who was extremely helpful yet not pushy or intrusive whicch was great as she gave us good tips and where to go and where to eat but never tried to influnce our decisions! The hotel has nice spacious rooms, a lovely outdoor patio and is walking distance from the harbour, the fortress, the museum and pretty much anything of interest in Rethimnon. The breakfast is homemade, (including the pastries) and very tasty although it is a set menu and it is the same everyday! So we were glad we hadnt paid for b&b as this meant we could opt out of breakfast at the hotel get something elsewhere. The one thing to bear in mind is that although there is a parking lot not too far, the hotel isnt accessible by car so if youve got very big suitcases it may not be ideal. All in all we had a great holiday made all the better by the lovely stay at this nice hotel.
We sampled a vareity of places including the following: Myroglies - Lovely authentic food, good service, good value Othanatos - YUCK! The restaurants on the harbour are nice for an special evening but quite pricey. Some of the little kebab shops do wraps with grilled meat, slada, tzaziki and chips all rolled up its tasty and good value for money for a quick lunch snack!

Not luxury
The hotel is well-located in old town Retymno and the building is beautiful but its not at all luxury hotel as the name indicates. We stayed in the downstairs room which was reasonably spacious but basic and dark, more like a dungeon. The hydro-masage shower is tiny, hence showering is not comfortable and the water doesnt come out with a lot of pressure which defeats the purpose of having an hydromassage shower. Note that there is no safe or hair-dryer in the room either. Although they say that they have satellite TV, we couldnt find any English channels. If you are planning to go to the beach, its a reasonably long walk (15-20 min) to Rethymnos main beach.
