an average hotel - just fine
we needed a hotel on the way from the South of France to Holland and chose this 3 star Holiday Inn. Nothing fancy but acceptable. The location is quite convenient in the center of Reims.

More Like What We’re Used to in the US
Parking was full so we had to park at a lot down the street but rate was same. Got in late and one night clerk spoke English and was very helpful. The French speaking clerk just watched us stumble with our luggage in the front door and to the elevator. But the room was great. they have a great terrace restaurant on the top floor but pricy. Overall good experience though.

Good base for Verdun
1h 30m drive straight from Charles De Gaulle. Hotel has a great location from a driving and pedestrian point of view. Good grocery nearby. Many good restaurants. Decor is decidedly tired but the other amenities are up to date. Room was large, comfortable and clean. English speaking staff were most helpful. My husband wanted a tour of WWI battlefields and this was our first stop.
Traveller's tip on local attractions
We enjoyed the champagne country drive we took. Not to be missed. There are hundreds of small producers in the many little towns. The countryside is beautiful and charming.
