Lacks basic amenities
Can you believe that if you have your bath after 9 am, there is no running hot water. Even 1 star motels provide that. The management knows it but does not want to do anything about it.

Good first visit
The hotel was clean, comfortable and the staff very friendly and helpful. The room was quite small but that could have been because of the two queen size beds. The walk in wardrobe was excellent, including iron, ironing board and safe. Unfortunately, because of the central location of the hotel it was quite noisy even on the 9th floor at night, but was too tired out to keep us awake.
The area has a variety of great eating places and the portions are usually huge so I would suggest sharing.

Location location location
The entrance and lobby are attractive, and the staff is friendly at the Ameritania. However, our room was really small. We had a queen bed. The floor was damaged/sunken under the carpet tiles in a medium size area. The bathroom was tiny, and Ive never seen such a small vanity & sink. Our first impression was dismay. We called the desk to ask for an upgrade, but they only had another room with a king bed, and it didnt sound like the room was any bigger. We stayed, realizing we would not be in our room much. However, we were on the 6th floor, so we heard a lot of street noise. We bought ear plugs after the first night. I will say that the shower was great. The Twist Lounge was closed for our entire stay. Its all about the location, which was great - close to the Ed Sullivan Theater, Carnegie Hall, Central Park. This hotel has a great price for the location, but I would not stay there again.
Spring or Fall and stroll thru Central Park at its prettiest.
