Not good for a good night’s sleep

I was really disappointed with this hotel. My first night, the radiator in the room started clanking really loudly every hour or so, just when I’d got back to sleep from the time before. It was like torture. The next morning the shower didn’t work. I complained about the radiator and the lady at the counter said it was to be expected from an old building. You’re not paying for the experience of being in an old building, though - you’re paying for a night’s sleep, so I thought this was a lame response. Anyway, I moved the next night and the noise wasn’t so bad, but there was no bedside light or main mirror, the shower veered between extreme hot and cold, and there was a pigeon trying to mate loudly outside my window. Still, the bed itself was very comfortable, the staff were nice enough, and it was near the subway. But overall, this felt like a hostel that was pretending to be a hotel - and charging like a hotel - and I really wouldn’t recommend it.

Perfect Inexpensive Getaway

The hotel was in a great location with access to the subway right there, and a short walk to Riverside Park. A block away was an excellent Mexican restaurant, Mama Mexico, great food and margaritas and a really fun atmosphere. The hotel lounge Kazbar had a great bartender and even better happy hour prices. The Manager had excellent suggestions for nearby restaurants and nightlife and staff were all very friendly and helpful. The hotel room itself was very cute, not luxurious, but had all the necessary basics and was very clean. The hallways and stairwells were really dark though and there is no elevator so don’t bring heavy bags. Definitely looking forward to a return stay at Marrakech.
