Good Enough
Cannot bear motorway rush to Airports on day of flight so stay over is my choice and the Gatwick Hilton is very well located! It does the job and except for a Breakfast cost that seems a little "excessive" I thought it crossed all the T’s and dotted all the i’s. Which is good enough!

Breakfast great - Room NOT so great!
Checked in late (midnight).. had to wait much too long to check in, couldn’t find reservation, no computer access/printer to check in for am flight.. could pay for computer use in lobby but the printer was out of service. Got to room well after 1am.. room was not clean.. numerous hairs on bedding, old/damaged lamps & furniture, stained carpet, broken door lock, etc. Fortunately, I spent less than 6 hours in the room.. a quick sleep, up early, showered and out of there! The hotel seemed quite nice & updated but the room was terrible. The best thing was the Buffet Breakfast.. it was wonderful & was worth more than the stay at the hotel. I stayed at Sofitel on my way in to LGW.. I highly recommend Sofitel over Hilton.. I would not return to Hilton. I was quite surprised at the condition of the room and found myself thinking, certainly NO ONE in the Hilton family would have stayed in that room.

Always happy to stay here ....
The staff are always helpful, the accommodation quiet, comfortable and welcoming, though the views from some of the windows may be an acquired taste - personally I like seeing lit up multistory car park ramps and watching the cars go round and round (as we have nothing like this where I live!) but there are other views available. I usually have dinner (a choice of restaurants - I use the buffet as it has something to please everyone) and breakfast the next morning (again buffet, which has a good choice). Good for families too - they have great family rooms available on request.
Traveller's tip on dining
If you are late arriving (around 10 pm) be aware that most of the dining facilities in the airport close at this time. The hotel restaurants are available until 10.30pm - but if you are really late there is always a 24 hour Costa (coffee and hot filled baguettes etc) in the other terminal.
