Not the usual Shangri-La standard
Two nights and whilst the hotel is comfortable, it is slightly below par compared to the normal Shanfgri-La standard elsewhere in the region. Coffee shop at weekends is very down market.

Retreat in Kuala Lumpur
I arrived in KL at 6:30 am after a 22 hour flight from New York and the hotel very kindly and without fuss allowed me to check in at 9 am in the morning. The staff speaks very good English and is very efficient and helpful without being overly solicitous. The room was quiet, well-appointed, and comfortable. Given my jet lag (13 hour time difference from NY) and the intermittent heavy rain I spent the first day sleeping and staying in the hotel, a really comfortable place to get adjusted. Breakfast is very good, well worth the upgrade to have included in the room price. Nice pool, good food service, and good location. I definitely look forward to staying there again.
