I’d go back

The hotel was in a brilliant location - easy to go back to when exploring any part of a fascinating city. Hotel staff were generally very friendly. Buffet breakfast (07.00 to 10.00) was excellent. If ever I returned to Budapest, I would stay in this hotel.

EEC visitors can have a free, short guided tour of the Parliament Buildings which is well worth booking at the parliament building itself. Just walking everywhere is easy but give yourself about four energetic days to do the city justice.

Super hotel October 2009

You couldn’t have a better location. Right in the centre of everything. Looked out for faults from previous reviews but couldn’t agree with any of them. Staff were really helpful, esp Voltan, who booked things for us & provided great info. View from the room was the only slight issue as it looked onto an inner courtyard (and some noisy italians who checked in just as we were leaving) The plus side of that meant there was no traffic or usual street noise, so the room was really quiet. High ceilings, quality drapes at the windows, very comfy bed. Plenty of food at breakfast both variety & quantity. Continually restocked. Even boiled eggs one day. No hesitation in recommending it or returning ourselves.

The hot springs/spa is a must. Completely different experience to anything else. The outdoor pools in winter/autumn is incredible. Quite surreal. There are several but try Szechenyi. Out past Heroes Square, close to the Metro 1 stop of the same name. A bit confusing when you first get there, but staff speak enough English to help you. You pay your fee and when you leave you get a refund depending on what facilities you’ve used, unless you’ve done all the different treatments & massages - in which case you’ll owe them some!

Convenient and Friendly

Central Basilica Hotel’s location made it always easy to find my way back, regardless of the hour...I just looked for the church’s towers. The front desk staff members went out of their way to be helpful - breakfast was excellent, and the room was comfortable. This is a very good value and a nice introduction to the city of Budapest.
