So much better than I expected

The hotel is without doubt value for money. As we were on a tight budget we couldn’t afford the hotels in Manhattan so had to choose one as close as possible. By using the hotel shuttle bus (which takes you anywhere within the Secaucus area) it takes 10 minutes on the train from Secaucus junction into the main Penn Station. The downside is that if you want a break during the day it isn’t practical to come back and then return but there are many places to rest tired legs within Manhattan so it isn’t neccesary. The shuttle works well though as there is only the one minibus you do have to wait sometimes for it get back, but providing your patient then this isn’t and wasn’t an issue. However we used to get the taxi from Secuacus station about 12 bucks) rather than ring the hotel and wait. Even though we paid for taxi’s the hotel still seemed inexpensive. The hotel itself is very clean, the standard rooms we were in were equivalent to a UK 4* and was very quiet. The hotel is situated close to the I95 and there is a lot of traffic noise but after a while you don’t notice, and this is New York your at so traffic will be everywhere! The staff were very helpful, friendly and the bar area was welcoming too. The breakfast, which some reviewers have complained about, was more than adequate with plenty of choice. Ok, it could have been hotter but it was so much better than we expected. Within 100m there are a few restaurants, including an excellent Wendy’s and Dunkin Donuts.

If flying from the UK try searching for flights via Amsterdam. We flew from Humberside to Amsterdam then onto Newark and by changing the flights on Expedia we flew back from JFK. Compared to flights direct from Manchester or Heathrow I reckon we saved about £100 each and didn’t have long drives or overnight stays. By doing this we managed to gain an extra day to our trip in NY which made all the difference.

This is a great place to stay!

I was so delighted to find the clean condition of my room, the comfy bed and the overall condition of this hotel- I stayed 3 nights and would have stayed a forth night but had already made prior arrangements for the last night before leaving the area. I was traveling alone and never felt uneasy or scared. It was quiet at night and the staff was so accomodating of any request. There is a free shuttle to the bus line and to the local outlet stores that runs I believe all day long and plenty of parking for the rental car. One great thing is the italian restaurant on site- some of the best food I had during my two week long New York vacation conveniently located right at your hotel. I would 100% stay at this hotel even if I were going into the city- take their shuttle to the New York bus station and use public transportation & taxis in the City and know my car rental and great room were waiting for me. I stayed at three other hotels during my vacation and none were anywhere as nice as this hotel. Great place to stay!

Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay

stay here and use public transportation to get into New York City- save tons of money this way
