Great value for a weekend break

We booked this hotel for a 3 night weekend break, taking advantage of the excellent rates they give for a Friday to Monday stay. It is a modern business hotel - no character but everything modern, clean and functional. Superb value - air conditioning, soundproofed room, comfortable queen size bed, fridge, microwave, kettle with tea/coffee provided, free wifi, and if you didn’t bring your laptop, a free-to-use pc and printer in reception. No fancy toiletries, just a combined liquid soap/shampoo. Complimentary coffee and cake in reception in the morning. They served breakfast but we did not have it. No proper restaurant but some chiller cabinets in reception selling ready meals/yoghurts, etc - appeared to be aimed at the business traveller who just wants to stay in their room at night. The hotel is in a business district near the commercial port, so no views and no little cafes or shops on your doorstep BUT it is right opposite a tram stop and only 2 stops from Vieux Port. For us, the good price combined with the excellent quality of the hotel made it worth having to spend 5 minutes getting to the action. The alternatives at vaguely comparable prices were all shabby looking 2 star hotels. Would definitely stay again.

Excellent clean rooms

Very large, ’suite’ style rooms, and our’s easily slept 3 adults. Hotel is newly built in what appears to be a re-development site, and so is located on the edge of what appears to be a building site, so don’t expect good views! Located about half hour walk from Port area. Recommend catching tram at night (which terminates right outside the door), as journey home takes you through an unpleasant area. Apart from this, the hotel itself was excellent, and the reception staff extremely helpful.

Wonderfully surprised

Having stayed at several hotels in France, we were pleasantly surprised by the high standard of the room and service in Suite Hotel. The room was light and spacious, and the double bed was an actually double, not two singles pushed together. The Old Port is a 15min walk away, and there are boulangeries on the way - you don’t need to get breakfast in the hotel.Trams also stop right outside. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Marseille.

Avoid the sea front. There are lots of nice inexpensive little places if you head East along La Canebiere and then in towards the right.
