Useful if you are staying a week or more
This was in a good location to get into the main part of the city. It was a self contained room with a cooker so useful if you want to do a spot of your own cooking. The bed was a sofa bed so was a little hard, but good price for what it was. Staff were very friendly but if you are arriving late make sure they know. It is also next to a tube stop only have forgot which one.
We arrived late into Marseille airport and there is only a bus or taxi to take you into town. The bus is regular and costs 8.5 euros and takes about 25 minutes just remember you have to walk out of the airport and walk some distance to the right but it is sign posted. The bus takes you to the Charles station. The walk to town is substantial and through a rough area so for the sake of 15 euros take a taxi. If you arrive during the day you can take a tube for a euro or so instead.

near the centre reasonable value
It was OK - a bit scruffy (though they laid some new carpet while we were there) and in an area surrounded by offices, so maybe a bit quiet and intimidating at night. They wouldnt give us an internet rate when we wanted to extend for a night, so we moved on.

Excellent Accommodation in Marseille
Citadines was a great place for my stay in Marseille. All rooms have a small kitchen which is great for making food if youre on a budget. There is free internet and printing facilites beside reception and the hotel has a great location from the main train and bus station- only one metro stop away on line 1. There is a supermarche and a bakery 2minutes walk away.
