So Glad I chose the InterCity Hotel..
Hotel was in a great location - round the corner from the pedestrianised shopping area and across the street from the main station. Room was quiet, stylish, very clean and the shower-room was lovely. Had the best shower I’ve ever had ! A free travel card and Friendly hotel staff made this an even more enjoyable stay.

Excellence in Essen
I’ve just returned after a 4 day weekend stay at the Inter City Hotel Essen. It is located in the city centre which is a short walk from the many shops and restaurants which is great. Also nearby is the main train station which makes traveling to any area or event surrounding the city very easy. I was very impressed with the overall quality of the hotel and found all areas to be spotlessly clean. The bedrooms were great, spotless and comfortable with a modern feel. The bathroom had heated flooring which I thought was a nice touch and the shower was great with plenty of power. Breakfast was a buffet affair which was also excellent with lots to choose from. Top this with friendly and helpful staff and this makes the "Inter City Hotel" definitely worth a visit.
Being close to the main train station I found the Inter City Hotel a great location for getting to the Messe Essen Exhibition Centre. The underground brings you right to the door, or even a taxi ride only takes 10 minutes. Then when your back at hotel in the evening your only a 5 min walk from centre of town where theres lots of places to eat out or have a pint.

very convenient position
The hotel was immaculate. We asked for the bedding to be changed to hypo-allergenic and this was done very willingly. Would have liked extra pillows to be automatically provided and not need to request this. Would have liked tea and coffee provision in our room. We understood from Expedia that our breakfasts were included in cost only to find this was not so when we settled our bill. Waitng staff could be friendlier.
