Welcome escape from Cairos Madness

A sumptuous hotel, very near the airport. Thought the half distance from the city centre would be a disadvantage, but proved to be a welcome escape from the hectic city centre. Very good restaurants, particularly enjoyed the Japanese one. Staff are very helpful and the hotel is frequented by tourists and wealthy business people. All in all a good choice, but be prepared for a white knuckle ride into the city every day. The traffic is intense and the driving mad!

If you are female, cover your legs and shoulders, if you dont want to be stared at or cause offence. Take tissue with you when you are out and about as toilet paper is a rarity in public toilets.

An Oasis

After a hot and dusty day in Cairo, the hotel lobby, designed as an oasis and filled with palms and water features is very welcome. The rooms are beautifully designed. The restaurant is excellent. The chef sends little surpises to your table, you can see the teamwork in the kitchen through the window, and the food is fabulous at a fair price. Now that the hotel is linked to the Fairmont next door, those wanting a slightly less expensive alternative can enjoy the whole facility by staying there, but the small difference in price to stay in the elegant rooms of the towers is worth it. A perfect holiday or business hotel.

Traveller's tip

Call a yellow taxi for cheap airconditioned travel to the centre. Buy a local SIM card for your mobile at the reception desk as the taxi company will need this so the driver can contact you. Call the night before to book. Provide your arrival details to the hotel when you book and ask for the free meet and greet service. Whisked through customs with the help of a greeter and comfortable free travel to and from the hotel.
