Nice hotel, terrible food prices

Hotel is surprisingly nice but the food prices are just crazy. $3 for a muffin. $7 for small fruit platter. They are tagging on the fact that there’s nothing around it. Drive to the nearest town for better food prices.

Get water/drinks, snacks and some food from nearest town (no microwave in room)....especially if you have hungry kids. There’s nothing around the hotel just glaciers.

Not fancy but good value for convenience

(About the review that complained of having to climb 4 flights of stairs -- The main parking lot below the chalet is for the general public (i.e. icefields tour), those people must climb the stairs; however hotel guests park on the opposite side of the building with NO stairs to climb.) Overall, nothing to get excited about, kinda like a nice motel with scratchy linens, no wi-fi and very few TV channels. The reason to stay here is convenience, not comfort. You get flexilibity with the Icefields Tour (you can choose either a late afternoon or a morning tour, in either case you avoid the crowds). If you take a late afternoon tour you also avoid a long drive back at night to Banff or Jasper. Room was adequate and fairly comfortable. Reserved a glacier view room with two beds and got a big loft room with a queen, sleeper sofa, and two twins in the loft, way more than enough room for two people. While the previously guest parking does not have stairs to climb, it’s still a bit of a walk, so don’t come with lots of heavy bags.

Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay

View rooms: Get a glacier view room, it only costs a little more and the view from the other rooms is unremarkable. Dining: Didn’t use the restaurant so no idea how good the food is, but prices were (understandably) a bit high. Don’t like overpaying for food, so planned ahead and brought picnic food (including wine w/screw-top bottle) that we ate in our room. Of course it was cold, but we had a glacier view room, so we still got to enjoy the view as we ate for a fraction of the price.

Well worth the expense!

We are so glad we decided to stay overnight at the Glacierview Inn. We took out time driving north from Banff, stopping to enjoy all of the beautiful sights. Arriving late afternoon we would have been rushed to get the last tour and with the bright sun would not have had the best tour. We enjoyed a leisurely dinner and then took a drive to enjoy the sunsetting in the area. It was glorious to wake up and see the sunrise from our window, a glacierview room is a must! Then after a lovely breakfast with superb service we took the first tour in the AM. A great stay!
