Fantastic Honeymoon
We have just come back from our honeymoon in Cape Town and cannot recommend the Mount Nelson enough. The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. tHe setting is magnificent and the room was spacious and comfortable. Any concerns that the hotel, due to its history and grandeur would be at all stuffy and pretentious were quickly dispelled by the informal but helpful staff. Breakfasts were fantastic and the health spa modern and good value. We didnt eat in the hotel in the evening though afternoon tea is a must , I would recommend this hotel to anyone . It is especially good value given the weakness of the rand against the pound
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Eating out is incredibly cheap. We ate at the best restaurants in Cape Town and struggled to spend 30 pound a head

Every one should visit Cape Town and stay at the Mount Nelson
We have just come back from a fantastic holiday in Cape Town, South Africa. I took my husband for his 40th birthday and we stayed at the fabulous Mount Nelson Hotel. It is the best hotel we have ever stayed in. It was recommended by 2 different people who have stayed there. When we arrived they upgraded us to a suite without us even asking. It was huge with 3 rooms and so luxurious. The staff were so nice, welcoming and couldnt do enough for the guests. The afternoon tea is a must and try their bloody mary drinks...they blow your head off. The food is 5 star and the service to match. The mini bar is the cheapest I have ever seen, which is a rarety in a 5 star hotel. The hotel is so relaxing and chilled out with the decor being victorian style to the upmost quality and luxury that we didnt want to come home. The guests were of all ages from older teenagers to elderly couples. The nice thing is the hotel offers a complimentary car to all guests who wish to travel within 10K of the hotel. The hotel organized all our trips, safari and shark diving. I have been to many hotels including the only 7 star in Dubai and I can honestly say that the Mount Nelson beats all in every way. I cannot fault it. Cape Town is gorgeous, the V&A waterfront is safe and bustling with life, restraunts , a shopping centre and jazz bands on the streets. Its great. Cant wait to go back. We only did a week its not long enough.
Traveller's tip on recreational activities
Go to the game reserve in Inverdoorn its fasntastic value for money the food is great and we saw up close the big 5. Also book the great white shark dive. My God its scary but Wow. We went with unreal adventures on both trips they are properly licenced and a great team. Warning take sea sickness tablets. Both trips cost very little and they included all meals and transfers. Oh yes and buy the DVD of the shark trip.

Bliss
The Mount Nelson is everything you could wish for in a hotel , large rooms with classicaly furnished and beautiful views. The Hotel is an art gallery in its own right with many prints reflecting on colonial times and history in south africa. Staff who care for your every need and are so wonderfully polite and fun to be with. With swimming pools and a spa on site you can relax in wonderful surroundings - geese and ibis regular visitors to the gardens there. Visits to the waterfront are easy - you can take a walk through the area known as the Gardens or you can be dropped off by the hotel shuttle which is free. And one thing you must not miss is the Mount Nelson afternoon tea - it is legendary.
