Great Hotel and Location
Spent a week there in September. First time in Portugal. Only paid for a standard room but was given one with seperate bedroom and living area. I had requested a high floor and was on the sixth with a view over the marina. Breakfast was included and had an excellent choice of hot and cold food on the terrace overlooking the garden. The marina is two minutes walk away with all the night life or a small supermarket close by if you are saving money. The charge for the room safe was a bit high but was optional. Would definitely stay there again.

Around the marina are many restaurants. Most have special offer boards out front which are the best value as menu prices can be expensive.

Excellent value for money
Although the exterior of the building could do with a fresh coat of paint (mustard yellow just isn’t my thing) the inside was delightful. Friendly staff at every post, always more than willing to strike up a conversation and help with your every query. The breakfast catered for all tastes, but was nothing to write home about. However, the in-hotel restaurant was second to none, serving traditional Portuguese dishes alongside other favourites.
30 minutes drive (or the dedicated bus service from just outside the hotel) takes you to Slide and Splash in Lagoa (the only theme park that was still open when we went) which is a great day out for everyone involved!

Not Bad
The hotel was very well situated, only 200 metres from the marina, close to shops, bars and restaurants. The hotel was very clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The reception, restaurant and bar area were very nicely decorated. The rooms were celan and tidy, but could possibly do with a little refurb. The pool and surrounding areas were nice, with a pool bar and jacuzzi, but extra sunbeds could be made available as it got full very quickly. The restaurant looked nice but could do with a bit more variety on the menu to suit different tastes. Also, the hotel could do with a providing more variety in the entertainment in the bar area as it seemed to be the same every night.
Traveller's tip on local attractions
Vilamoura marina was fabulous. There are plenty of activities for couples and families such as Jet Skiing and Boat Trips. Very nice restaurants and bars here to cater for different preferences. Albufeira (only 30 mins from Vilamoura) has shops, beaches, restaurants and bars. Good for families and good value for money here too. The Zoo Marine also situated in Albufeira is great for kids and adults. Dolphin shows, sea lion shows, bird of prey. Well worth a visit!
