A bit disappointed

This hotel looks like the hub for foreign tourists as it looked like the most popular hotel in the area. On the positive side, the hotel does have restaurants, convenience stores, and other places where you can shop within the premise so it may be good for people new to the area. Unfortunately for me, I stayed at the Sakura Prince Hotel Shinagawa last year, and my expectation was much higher for this hotel. The Sakura Prince is located about a block away, but its room was extremely clean, and very accommodating in terms of service and size of the room. We paid about the same price at Sakura hotel, and we got a very luxurious room equipped with an American sized bathroom and two queen, comfortable beds. The Prince Hotel Shingawa came with an extremely tiny room. Very low AC, so it was super hot. The beds were smaller than a usual American twin; extremely uncomfortable on top of it. And the bathroom was tiny. Room itself wasn’t very clean too - we were bit by some kind of insect there. Overall, I would definitely recommend the Sakura Prince Hotel over the Prince Hotel Shinagawa. I am going back to the Sakura next year.

Hotel staff nice/Room way too small

I only stayed in one hotel in Tokyo, so I can’t compare it with anything else. I did stay at another hotel in Hiroshima, which was cheaper and better, but I was told Tokyo was more expensive and small rooms. The hotel is nice, the staff was very helpful. But the room was so small. Maybe it really is a Tokyo thing. I would see if I could find a different hotel next time. But I might not find a better deal.

Shinagawa Prince Hotel

Excellent hotel. Easy walking distance from Shinagawa Station, lots of good restaurants, internet cafe, convenience store, helpful staff. Only downside-you have to pay to use the swimming pool. This should be free! Other than that minor niggle, Highly recommended

Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Shinagawa, while away from central Tokyo, is a good place to be based. Trains go in all directions to Tokyo and surrounding area and Shinkansen (bullet train) stops here.
