Unsurpassed value for money in Malta

I keep raving about this hotel because I have tried so many other ones in Malta that are really rubbish, but this one is really, really good value for money. The tagline is ’3 star with the mind of a 4 star’, and that caption is really not lying. Since I first tried them out, I have never chosen to stay anywhere else when in Sliema/St. Julian’s.

Traveller's tip on dining

Check out The Blue Elephant restaurant at the Hilton. Fantastic Thai food and a nice view to boot.

No way 3 Star

Hotel was relatively clean but no car park. Car parking in the area is a nightmare. First room was clean but the bathroom a bit mucky. There was a steel nut and bolt attached to the previously broken shower control. Don’t take room 511, there is an incredibly noisey Air Con unit outside which turns on and off every 10 minutes all night. I slept with tissue in my ears and the pillow over my head. Next day the staff did offer me the choice of 2 other rooms however the aircon was poor and creaked all night and the room needed to electric fans to circulate the air.The TV remote control was broke and despite 3 requests was never replaced. Breakfast consists of assorted bread products and a cold meat and cheese buffet-BUT- served from a non refrigerated table in the dining room. Only hot food were boiled eggs (with a distinct green tinge) and baked beans - as unusual combination. Orange juice was diluted and tasted like cat wee. Overall for a business trip where I only slept there the rooms were clean and secure BUT wouldn’t want to spend a weeks vacation there.

Pay a few more Euros and stay a bit more upmarket.

Lovely Place. Underperforming Hotel

Disitinctly average hotel which could be so much better. Good location but pokey rooms with camp beds. Don’t upgrade to Superior Room as no different other than a square metre balcony with an air conditioning unit filling it up. For Satellite TV read BBC World. Still Malta is lovely with fantastic people.
