Serves a purpose
For us, the location was convenient, so it was fine. But the hotel itself is starting to show wear already, even though it is new. Bed was comfortable, room size nice, room decor was still stylish enough, but upkeep is slipping.

A nice little hotel.
The hotel itself was small and very modern. Our room was huge, with a nice bathroom and 2 flatscreen TVs. It said we were supposed to have a balcony on our booking but we didnt (we didnt really miss it anyway), however the view from the room was fantastic over Manhattan and the Queensborough bridge (if you overlook the industrial site on the other side of the road). The service was ok, although we got stuck in the lift as soon as we arrived, luckily they got us out within minutes (I think it happens a lot). When going home their free hourly shuttle service left without telling me (due to a misunderstanding) so had to walk to the nearest subway station. (Not too bad though just about 10-15 minutes). Overall a nice little hotel for people who dont mind staying away from Manhattan.

Very Romantic Getaway...
Im not one to promote anything, unless its really worth it, and The Ravel Hotel, IMO, was definately, worth it! I stayed there this past weekend, for one night and in the city the following day. First off, I live in the Bronx, and commute to the city by train everyday, so the commute was not an issue at all for me. One stop on the train and I was there. I was celebrating my boyfriends birthday and decided to keep him to myself. When we arrived, we ran into a little issue. Apparantly, you have to have $100 deposit for room incidental. I didnt know this and brought the wrong card with me. After having someone at home run to the bank, all was well and we were able to go to our 5th floor room. When I entered the room, I was immediately blown away by its beautiful decor. Not too much and definately, not too simple. The bathroom was probably my favorite. Yes, to some the thought of having glass doors is a little creepy, but for me and my boyfriend.. The bed was like Heaven! The view was BEAUTIFUL..and yes I was infront of the boarded house too, but just above it was the skyline and the 59th street bridge. Overall, it was a wonderful stay. The clubs music wasnt as loud as I anticipated and easliy got over the fact that it was even going on. All in all, cant wait to return!!!!!!!!
A little tip...make use of the hotels free shuttle service..and yes, they offer free shuttle on the hour and charge $5 any other time. The cost to go into the city is $25, which is pretty much standard. And, use their provided phone book for food delivery. We had the munchies and ordered some pizzas and hot wings from Dominios at around 1AM...they came almost an hour late, but they were soooo good. Oh yeah, if you have a cell phone...use it. We used the room phone to call out a couple times and was charged. Felt like an idiot because I have free nights and weekends, and clearly didnt think to use my own phone.
