you need a car
our stay was well out of season. Nice gardens at hotel but very quiet. Did’nt eat at hotel - not sure restaurant was open even. not many other local restaurants open either. Nearest restaurant was quite a walk down the hill, so would be a good 25/30 minutes slog back up after dinner. You definitely need a car here to go anywhere. OK for 2 nights would’nt want to have stayed longer.

Decent out of season...
Large, pretty and a well sized, comfortable, clean room. The service at the hotel was average and you can do a lot better than eat at the restaurant. Out of season it was great as it was quiet, but at the weekends the crowds that draw in make it a little noisy. Not all doom and gloom though, but the lower end of 4 star.
Traveller's tip on local attractions
Go to Cefalu! Great scenery from the Old town to the Arabic ruins on the mount - great in terms of vibe, restaurants, beach and general friendliness of the locals ( a little gem).

Beautiful but low key
This hotel has beautiful buildings and grounds but service and maintenance were half hearted - we stayed early in the season which may not have helped. If you’re not too bothered about the trimmings and facilities - many of which were closed or not working - and want somewhere quiet to chill, then this is a good choice
Traveller's tip on local attractions
San Nicola l’Arena is a few kilometres away and has most of the shops, bars and so on that you need but on a small scale. There was a general shortage of facilities in the immediate area but it was early in the season.
