Awful Spa hotel in the middle of a construction site
Unless you really want to be in sentosa, dont bother with this hotel. Not only is it out of the way for everything else, it is not peaceful.. right in the middle of construction. the room was quite disgusting. The sofa had hair from places you dont want to think about, and stains. Absolutely disgusting. Told the front staff about it twice, but they didnt do much about it. Service isnt great either. no one goes out of their way to help. not sure if it is part of the singapore service or just this hotel.

A mixed review
My review of the Amara is mixed as the "how satisfied were you?" does not question enough areas. The hotel as a set of buildings is stunning, very modern, lots of glass, waterfalls and lush gardens. The corridors are fashionably dimly lit though this extends to the rooms which may not suit all. Negative aspects would be the complete lack of atmosphere (empty bar and restaurants) even for a hotel labelled as a sanctuary. If you still want a continental breakfast then expect to pay over the odds and be disappointed - other hotels in Asia that i have stayed in have been much better. The Amara is a hotel that seems to be targeted at adults but is situated in Sentosa which is a theme park mainly visited by day trippers that closes down around 8pm, should you go for a walk after 8-30pm you will find closed beach bars, no people and piped music (it was like 28 Days Later by the beach!). There is a Thai restaurant on site which is very good and deserves more custom. I checked out a day early, even though I paid in advance, but his was not questioned by the hotel staff.
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Take the mono rail (free) to Vivo City for breakfast (a few dollars each in the Toast Box). If you want solitude head to one of the pools as no one uses them!
