Lovely hotel bit of a rough area
The hotel was very good as was the service. It had a lovely small rooftop pool with fantastic views of the acropolis. The only downside was the area was quite down at heal. It felt quite unsafe particularly at night. As we arrived in the early hours of the morning with children it was a bit disturbing driving by a large number of ladies selling just around the corner. We did find a slightly better route into town but this was the longer way round. There was a small play area in the hotel for kids with an x box, which was popular but they need to buys some more games. The decor was very modern and funky and the food was good quality.

Good choice!
Although the hotel was not particularly central to any main attractions or nightlife, it was an extremely well-presented hotel. 10 min walk from nearest metro (dont choose this hotel unless you dont mind walking a bit). Great service - they upgraded us to a superior room on arrival, as we were staying 7 nights! Perhaps the only downside would be that the air conditioning didnt make the room particularly cool, even when set at max cold, which could be a problem in the summer. Friendly helpful staff, good food (excellent breakfasts), lovely room. Good value for money. Overall good choice!
Traveller's tip on local attractions
If you can time your trip to coincide with a weekend when the main historical attractions are free - it will save you money! Also, for great views, head to Mt Lycabettus, rather than Acropolis - you can see much further!

A great hotel but not in the best area
This is my second stay at the Novotel Athens and I have had a wonderful stay on both occassions. It has a pool on the rooftop with a view of the Acropolis, excellent rooms and very clean and quiet. It has recently been refurbished too. I stay here on trips to Athens given the good value and ease of getting on the Metro. On the down side the location isnt upmarket so travellers need to keep aware.
Go to Larissa station not Victoria (more dangerous area to walk to get there).
