Somewhere to sleep that is convenient for Trains and Ferries
There was no room to swing a cat in the quad-room, even though there were only three of us. The communal lounge had coffee and tea facilities but nowhere to refill the kettle once the water containers were empty. However, we only wanted an overnight place to rest after a late night music concert in the nearby Charlie’s Bar. Utilitarian would be a good description, but better facilities and comfort elsewhere would have been pricier. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful though.
Traveller's tip on nightlife
Charlie’s Bar (in Rederiet opposite the cinema) hosts Trash Pop music night every Wednesday. Eclectic mix of unusual artists perform in the cosy environment from 22:00 til 02:00. Not for SQUARES.

excellent value for money
highly recommend this to anyone planning on heading to the south of norway,the rooms are nice and simple, very clean hotel, staff are very helpful and informative, excellent location, very quiet rooms, good heating, dont be fooled by the outside apperance,the norwegians are famous for being resourceful, and this hotel is a excellent example of this, iam very happy i stayed here, i saved more money and got to spend it on the local cusine! lots of great places nearby! walking distance to ferry and train station, would be ideal for stop over to denmark! i hope other people get to enjoy it as much as i did, thank you centrum!!! kieren m australia
Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks
check out the fishmarkets! free samples of the best salmon gravlax in the world! can find a cheap pint(by norwegian standards) at the bar midnight, lots of authentic music nostaglia on the walls, if its summer the local theme park, sabletain? looked really good, make sure to get a photo on the bronze horse in the center of town, its world famous!
