great amenities, need more people skills
Essex resort and spa has fabulous amenities, great gym, pool (indoor and out) and a wonderful spa (superlative facial and massage) and all our meals were gourmet. The only negative is that staff seems to be lacking customer service, I.E. knowlegable, pleasant and friendly. Many times we were not properly greeted, and we asked several questions ranging from how do you like this dish to how do you use the gym equiptment which were answered with I do not know. I point this out as a small glitch in what was otherwise a memorable stay.

Needs Help
I know large hotels have a hard time keeping up with food service, but it really should be clean. The staff was nice enough and changed our original room, and the new room was MUCH nicer. I’d have to say it’s a crap shoot. As for the Dining there, it was horrible. Don’t bother. Cold Food.
