The best choice of hotel that I’ve ever not made!!
A friend and I were off to the World Superbike finale at Portimao for the weekend, our chosen hotel turned out to be no longer available so during the phone call from Expedia to inform me of the cancellation I chose the Pestana Dom Joćo II because of its proximity to the circuit. To be honest I was not expecting too much because I had blindly chosen the hotel, I was however extremely impressed and pleased that we had ended up there! The staff were friendly, rooms clean, the beds comfortable and breakfast was good although the fruit was a little tasteless, we wandered into town of an evening (a 10 minute walk) where restaurants are plentiful, the food good and reasonably priced too! If you are attending any event at the Portimao Circuit I could not recommend this place highly enough, 10 mins from car park to car cark, can’t be bad ’eh!
Don’t drink spirits in the hotel unless you’re a lottery winner!

Recently refurbished and modernised
very nice hotel, bar staff very friendly, pool and grounds very plesant with access to the beach directly from the grounds would reccomend this hotel

Great hotel
The hotel has recently been refurbished to a very high standard. The beach is a stones throw away and the hotel is ideally situated for the pretty fishing village of Alvor less than 10 minutes walk away.
Traveller's tip on dining
Don’t bother going half or full board as there are plenty of restaurants to try in Alvor. Tried a different one every night - all fantastic.
