Decent value-for-money hotel, but awful area

I had read the previous reviews which had mentioned the worrying nature of the location of this hotel, in terms of lack of car parking, but thought oh it will be ok and the price is good. The hotel was good value for money, but the size of the car parking is pathetic given the number of rooms and its poor level of security is very bad. We got back to the hotel about 11pm - there were no spaces - we parked on the kerb outside (at the risk of being clamped which was itself worrying). We went to our room, looked out the window and there were all I can describe as ’youths in hoodies’ peering into our car, looking very dodgy, you just thought any minute now I am going to see them break into my car - awful and very creepy. They moved on, and my husband asked if we could move the car into the car park and block someone else in - the hotel obliged thankfully. But, it was very unsettling with these dodgy characters easily able to access your car even in the car park - very far from a relaxing night’s sleep was had. Such a shame as a modern, clean hotel with a decent breakfast - good value for money - spoilt by the poor location and lack of secure car parking. I would not return here.

Clean but expensive.

The hotel room was great. Very big room which was very clean and tiday. You can see that the room has been cleaned thoroughly and well before we arrived. The only gripe I have is the food was VERY expensive and of a very average quality. I paid 4.00 for a pint of lager shandy and 3.20 for a pint of lager. All in all a good vist.

Traveller's tip

Good for flying from Heathrow.

Nice hotel

I stayed here with my boyfriend (10/9/09) and cannot really fault the hotel. Its a little tricky to get to if you don’t know the area but easily seen from the train station. It looks new and modern and is clean and comfortable. Rooms are great with double bed, internet (though I think there may have been a charge for this), large LCD TV, tea and coffee, and the shower room was very nice with free Lux shampoo and shower gel. There was also a separate toilet. Parking is available though maybe they could do with a few more marked spaces. The only downside was the noise from the hallways, the walls may be thin, or maybe we just had very noisy neighbours! The continental breakfast was excellent, with unlimited choice of cereals, toast, pastries, fruit, muffins, fruit juice, tea and coffee. Probably one of the best brekkies I’ve had! We’ll definitely be staying here again, without a doubt.
