Recommended - comfortable and convenient base in
We stayed here for four nights at the end of September. We upgraded (slightly !) to the rooms with fires in the corner of the room, The rooms themselves were very comfortable, and the selection of "goodies" in the bathroom was excellent. One of the best things about the hotel was it is at the town end of Banff Avenue, and was a very easy walk into town for retaurants in the evening. Would definitely recommend, and we would happily stay here again. As a recommendation in town, try Coyotes (didnt look much, but was surprisingly good) - and the Keg in town was well above average as a Steak House. Also, if you get the chance, a summer or autumn visit to Sunshine Meadows is easy walking with spectacular scenery.

NOT REALLY IMPRESSED
The room was very hot and the airconditioner was very LOUD.It was Very difficult to sleep with it on. We reported this to the management. Also we found out that we had to pay for parking our vehicle in their garage. We booked for four--but the room was only setup for two.The maid did come, but we had to call each night for towels and etc. We do not feel this is the proper way to be treated,at such an expensive resort.
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Be prepared to pay for parking--

Great Hotel
Great room, great service, friendly people.... I was extremely happy with the Royal Canadian lodge and would recommend it to anyone traveling in the area.
Traveller's tip on dining
Out of the many places we ate...make sure you check out Earls for dinner and Melissas for either breakfast or lunch. Both had really great food!
