Exellent "Birthday" experience

For my daughter’s 16th birthday, I accompanied her and 3 friends by train for an overnight stay. Everyone was impressed and had a great time with a variety of activities available at this gorgeous location.

Disappointing

I went with my Valentine on the fourteenth and had a queen ocean view. The rooms were in the bougainvilla complex, which is old and run down. I can’t say the room impressed me at all- It was just mediocre, and sadly disappointing. I was really looking forward to a fabulous experience (we’d been there once before about ten years ago). The halls are long and dingy/dirty, and the room was pretty much the same. Breakfast the next morning, the buffet, was quite good and included in the room charge. The employees I encountered were unfailingly polite and helpful, so this place does get bonus points for that. For the money I really wish I had had a better experience with the property; again, understanding that it is the physical entity and all the staff were extremely pleasant.

One of SB’s best!

We stayed at the Fess Parker Doubletree for Valentine’s Day and just loved it. Everything was perfect. Great for folks who want to grab a bite to eat and then go take a long walk on the beach, or ride bikes up and down the bike path. A bit far from State Street, but the property is immaculate.

Great Hotel

Everything was great. The room we stayed in was really nice and I booked it for a great price.

Next time we are in Santa Barbara we will definitely stay there again

Our entire stay was most pleasurable - from check-in - to the quality of our room - to the breakfast in the restaurant - we cannot fault it. The Fess Parker’s Doubletree Resort was quality all the way. Clean; friendly; a beautiful resort !!

Just right!

I like to swim a mile a day early in the morning and the pool was long enough and the right temperature. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The fresh chocolate chip cookies at check-in were a nice touch!

late December

Excellent price during late December. But I looked at price for early January and the price became outrageousily high. Great location....but compare prices with other hotels in the same area

Great getaway

Nice resort hotel in pricey Santa Barbara. Loved the heated and generously-sized pool. Trains are frequent though and quite loud.

Absolutely Wonderful!

Our family of four stayed one night at this hotel and wished we could have stayed longer. The staff was extremely professional and courteous; the grounds well-groomed and loaded with amenities. The room - and the view - were just beautiful. Definitely recommended!

The original Sambo’s restaurant is a must for breakfast and is just a short 10-15 minute beach walk away.

Great for those traveling with dogs that still want a nice hotel

Great for dog lovers. We book online then call or write the concierge that we will be bringing our dog. You do pay a dog fee and you must book into a Garden room (ask for ground floor if available.) This is our third year. This year they were repaving the parking lot - all of it so that was kind of a hassle but the room, the proximity to the beach and the short drive to a great downtown, shopping, eating, drinking area is wonderful.

Fun Downtown strip to just cruise around and window shop, stop in a pub and just enjoy all the action.

Beautiful property across from the Beach.

I loved this hotel. My only complaint is that I would have like to have been in closer walking distance to State Street. Food was a bit overpriced for what I had. Wish breakfast was included. Grounds were great. customer service great. Concierge and free computer access was great!

East Beach Magic

The Fess Parker Doubletree is located on a long section of East Beach in Santa Barbara and presents a beautiful slice of Southern California to visitors. We booked an ocean-front room this time and the view was awesome. The Doubletree was my introduction to the area and remains the best place to enjoy the ambiance. The service was exceptional and although the facility is getting older, it is well maintained. Plus, where else in SB can you go to the gift shop and get a mini coon-skin cap for your wine bottles?

Tired and worn...overpriced

not impressed

It was disappointing. For the price and description, I expected a luxurious and adult place, which it wasn’t. I didn’t realize there was only one pool, extremely crowded; I hated the concession stand-sales atmosphere at the pool; the dinner at the bar was a total rip off. It was not made clear that the one casual restaurant never seemed to be open. The only area where there seemed to be real interest in service was with the valets, and you know they are only looking for tips.

perfect holiday resort

Very pleasant atmosphere, friendly and helpfull employees. Big smile during our stay in the hotel. Rooms were well equipped, clean and we particularily loved the ground floor ’garden view’ patio. Luckily we were far from the pool which can be loud. Bicycle hire at the Resort. Overall this Resort answered all our expectations!

Santa Barbara Main Street; the Shopping Lane; Yoghurt-land for delicious icecream; the Pier and particularily Moby Dick Restaurant for friendly service and delicious Seafood.

Really was a 4-star hotel

Nice rooms, ocean and mountain views are as advertised. Nice pool & jacuzzi. Nice lounge. Close to everything.

Not impressed

We paid twice as much as our friends, and our room was in the corner with parking lot as our view and train tracks with running trains till late evening. The screen door was broken in our room. The toiletries are very nice. Had breakfast a couple of times in the restaurant; the first morning the server was totally inept. The food, however, was very good. The lobby is very nice. The location is great - the beach sand is horrible! Our feet were covered in what appeared like tar/oil from a walk to the pier. It was awful! It took us an hour to scrub the bottom of our feet in the tub with lots of soap. Overall, the hotel is nice; just not worth the price. Have stayed at numerous other hotels in the vicinity, was curious about this one. Not the best in the area.

Would love to stay there again

The front desk help was excellent. I was visiting my daughter at UCSB and they were so helpful in suggestions and allowing her to park and visit me. What a delightful hotel and the grounds are gorgeous..

Traveller's tip on dining

The French Restaurant on State St is great Knowledgeable on cuisine and wines, being a wine steward, I loved it .Bouchon Restaurant.. worth every penny or dollar!

Comfortable Hotel

The only problem we had is the room started to smell like bad stinky feet (mildew/moldy carpet) the 2nd night. Called the front desk and they sent housekeeping to spray orange smelling spray onto the carpet. You’re also charged a resort fee. A parking fee is charged every night of your stay.

Wonderful place to stay

We enjoyed very much of our stay. Clean place with ocean view. Nothing to complain about.

Not what I hoped for

hair bands from the previous guest were found on the floor and behind a pillow. Had an ocean front room on the first floor but the plants were so tall you couldn’t see the ocean unless you were standing up. The outside furniture was filthy, and in the dirt there were a number of cigarette butts and bottle caps. Very disappointed.
