Very satisfactory stay there!

Good location. The staff were very helpful and nice. The hotel is a very nice renovated building. The room is very clean and the bed is very comfortable. The breakfast is all very good with lots of choices. Given this standard, the price of the hotel is very reasonable. The only problem is the hotel is situated on a one-way road. Take some time to upload and unload the market. And it’s very hard to find a parking in the area.

A gem of a hotel .

Reception staff were friendly and helpful ,replacing lightbulb and giving us extra pillows straight away. The breakfasts were amazing for a 2 star hotel with everything you could want and the dining room opened out onto a pretty garden where we finished our coffee (also good quality). The hotel itself is on a small side street off the town hall area and is quite old but very well maintained and full interesting collectables and antique furniture. We will cetainly be going back.

Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Make full use of the metro. Your longest journey from the airport is under 3 euros and the ticket machines give english instructions . Your ticket can be topped up for more trips within 24 hours. The same ticket can be used on the buses and trams also.

Be lovely when it is finished!

Spent 4 nights in this hotel which is ideally placed near all the main sights and close to the Metro. The hotel is undergoing a major refurbishment but is still open for business - you just have to dodge round the decorators! Unfortunately the lounge and bar were unavailable whilst we were there but we saw evidence of the new furniture waiting to be installed. Hotel staff were very friendly and the inclusive breakfast was varied and plentiful. Our room was spotless; the beds were very comfortable; plenty of hot water with a bath and a powerful shower. New double glazed windows and a warm radiator seem to be the new standard.

Traveller's tip on local attractions

Use the Metro - it’s fantastic. If you visit the Sandeman Wine Lodge you can buy a combined ticket which includes the Bolsa Palace. Both tours were extremely interesting. The Palace is beautiful, and there is a free wine tasting at the end of it! You can buy a ticket for the red sightseeing bus which is valid for 24 hours. You could stay on the bus for the full trip to get your bearings, then the next day hop on and off at the sights you want to see. Wish we had done that. River trip is a must!
