A most enjoyable experience
The Beacon Hotel, South Beach, is in a superb location if a beach holiday with great nightlife is what you are looking for. Located in the heart of Ocean Drive, the beach is literally across the road, for which the hotel provides towels in the room, whilst lots of different bars are just a short distance away. The famous Mansion nightclub is only about a 10-minute walk away. Beacon guests receive a VIP line pass, which is very useful as the queues can be lengthy. The staff were the friendliest I’ve encountered anywhere. I stayed for just over two weeks and when I left they seemed genuinely sorry to see me go. A breakfast voucher is available each day at the adjacent Johnny Rocket’s. The voucher entitles you to a continental breakfast and 20% off anything you order from the hot menu. The hotel room was nice and was cleaned to a good standard each day. On the negative side, the bathroom was a little small and the hot water occasionally took a while to come through in the shower. The hotel’s lift, or elevator, is also very small. Parking can be a problem in South Beach, both in terms of availability and cost. The hotel, like most others on Ocean Drive, operated a valet service, which cost $20 per day. Taxis are costly enough but local transport is more reasonable. A bus across the Macarthur Causeway into downtown Miami is available at $2.

style & grace
We have stayed at the Beacon many times upon our return flights to San Diego from the Keys. It is always a great visit, even if it is only for 1 night! Great service, cordial, not uppity, clean and... romantic. Love it, cindy & mike, san diego

Very bright and clean.
A great hotel, staff was very responsive, freindly and polite. Extremely clean everywhere, people always cleaning working. Looked recently updated, especially the room / bathroom which were very nice and modern (large flat screen tv)--and the bed was sooooo comfortable!! Hotel is conveniently right across the street from the park leading to the beach. Two minor problems: 1) The mini bar had an item opened when we got there...the door was broken and would not shut, we reported it immediately but it was not fixed over the two days we were there. We were not charged for the item so it was ok... 2) Our door access did not work on the second day so we had to go down each time to request someone let us in-mildly inconvenient. Apparently the battery was dead so only a master would work.
