Mountain Paradise indeed

We had a very long trip to Costa Rica and then drove from San Jose Airport to La Fortuna. I was very happy to arrive at the hotel that night and the staff were extremely welcoming. We checked into our room and it was fabulous, the novelty bathroon was my favourite. the views of Arenal Vlocano are great, and sitting having a lovely breakfast looking at a volcano was a great experience. I really enjoyed my stay in the hotel and it was a lovely start to a great holiday in Costa Rica

Gorgeous hotel

Hotel Mountain Paradise is a hidden gem. We absolutely enjoyed our stay during a recent vacation to La Fortuna. The hotel is beautifully designed, quiet, exceptionally clean, close to both Arenal and La Fortuna, and certainly an excellent value for the price. The quality of the rooms was a surprise - even after seeing photos online. The bathrooms are unbelievable, the bedrooms are beautiful with everything you could need from a flat-screen TV to dimming lights, and the view of Arenal is breathtaking (although we couldn’t see it from our patio, you can see it throughout the hotel grounds). The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The only drawback is the pricing in the restaurant (a little high). Other than that, our stay was fantastic.

Paradise!

This is a stunning hotel that has more flora and fauna than I could imagine. The view of the Arenal Volcano was stunning however if you want to see lava, it is on the other side of the volcano. The staff were extremely friendly and the complimentary breakfast in the morning was AMAZING! What I did not like was that the room smelled like mold, easy to get over because of the beauty of the rooms. I also was very unhappy that the "tours" or "excursions" were nearly double the price if you booked through the hotel than if you took their shuttle to La Fortuna which is 5 minutes away. One excursion we did was a hike of the volcano then it took us to "Tabacon Hot Springs" , which was amazing. The hotel charged us $120 a person, then we go to town and the same trip is $80 a person. Also, we had booked a cab to go to the other side of the country, Playa Conchal, and asked specifically for someone who spoke English (which is not uncommon for the taxi drivers) and they said of course, of course, and as you probably guessed it- the driver did NOT speak one word of English! We were so disappointed because it was a lot more money to take a cab. We had taken a cab from San Jose to Arenal and loved our driver because he told us what everything was. Bottom line: DO NOT BOOK ANYTHING THROUGH THE HOTEL!!!!! otherwise we loved it.
