Average....!!
I stayed at this place two times in the past 2 months. First time, it was OK. This time - two days consecutively fire alarms and one was at 2:30 at night. The staff had absolutely no sense of sympathy for the people - nor they gave any discount or even a free coffe for the people stayed outside for more than hour in a very cold night. Breakfast - they charged 9 GBP and same stuff - egg, sausage and bacon!! every single day!!

7 x Nights in Reading
Holiday Inn Reading South looked to be a business hotel situated outside the buzzling town areas. This does not translate to travel inconvenience as it is being supported by an efficient and confortable bus service to and fro the town center and Reading Station. Taxi, although more expensive, is readily available within 3 - 5 minutes, through request from the front desk. Service level exceeded my expectation, including value for money. Well served by a team of courteous, helpful and hardworking staff from the front desk, restuarant to housekeeping. The hotel ambient and its surrounding radiate a quiet and peaceful environment. Quite a change to a city person like me and i will certainly miss it for many days to come. On the hind sight, there are points which could be improved upon (off the record) 1. More TV channels especially live football. 4/10 news channels, with repeated topics, can be very boring. 2. Provide internet assess by the hour instead of the existing 24 hours charge. Non-business customers will be grateful. 3. The room lighting is warm and cozy but a brighter light option will be useful for night reading and work. Overall, I have to admit I had a comfortable 7 nights stay, not to mention that there is a huge supermarket right opposite the hotel.
China Palace Great service and chinese food in China Palace along Oxford Street. Sumptious food (including Tim Sum) prepared by Hong Kong chefs second to none, including those in the Asian region.

Wow! What good Service!
From the moment my wife and I booked in at the reception desk on saturday to the time we left on the sunday, the staff were very efficient and attentative. They all treated us with courtesy and and a smile. We could not fault the room or the public areas for design, comfort and cleanliness. We had an excellent breakfast, and apreciated being shown to our table and served with our drinks immediately, by cheery and courteous staff, although the hotel was quite busy that weekend with a Wedding party. The only downside was a lot of noise outside our window and in the corridoors at midnight and early in the morning, This was mainly children unsupervised by their parents , which was not actually the fault of the Hotel or staff. I would thoroughly recomend this Hotel,(and probably any Holiday Inn.)
You can even change the pillows to your liking, if required. Take advantage of internet in the room!
