5 Star experience, idyllic setting, amazing experience.
Everything about the Lake Hotel made our journey worthwhile. The setting is idyllic with the view from the balcony transfixing. We could stand and watch the sun rise over the mountains, reflected in the lake in which the red deer were bathing. The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, the service top drawer and the quality of food exceptional. Everything about this hotel was spotlessly clean, an amazing achievement given the hotels age. The atmosphere was relaxing and unhurried. This is the first hotel we have ever stayed in where we have decided to definitely return at some point. I cannot speak highly enough of our experience, worth every penny.
Traveller's tip on dining
Without a doubt, enjoy a meal at the hotel restaurant. Very high standard of service and food.

amazing
This was our first trip to Ireland and certainly wont be the last its such an incredible place. The scenery is breath taking especially around the Lakes and the Dingle Peninsular. It was made all the more special staying at the Lake Hotel. Our room was spacious , nicely decorated and fresh. The view from the window was amazing, we overlooked the lake and every morning and evening wild red deer came to graze and drink. The food was fabulous and the staff just as fabulous. Niall the manager is a great guy with a great sense of humour and lots of local knowledge and was great for giving tips on places to see which normally may be missed by tourists. Nothing was too much trouble he even organised bikes and a boat trip for us to the gap of dunloe which is an absolute must. Killarney itself is a lovely little town with plenty of places to eat and drink and there is plenty to see and do without having to travel very far. The Irish people are the friendliest people i have every come across, it was an absolute joy from beginning to end and I am already planning my next vacation back there.
Hire bikes and take boat through the lakes to Lord Brandons Cottage and then cycle through the gap of Dunloe to Kate Keraneys Cottage for soup and a sandwich. Quite hard work but more than worth it. Drive to Glengariff and take a boat ride to Garinish Island and walk round the gardens. You get a close look at the Seals sunbathing on the rocks and the gardens and views are stunning.

Just heavenly
We have stayed at the Lake Hotel several times, as it is a wonderful place if you want a relaxing break. The hotel is just superb. The staff are extremely welcoming and go out of the way to accomodate your every need. The bedrooms are absolutely beautiful and many have enchanting lake views, which are definitely worth the supplement. There is a myriad of wildlife to be seen, especially a groupof red deer that paddle around in the water just feet from your window. Quite amazing! The food is extremely good, and use mostly locally produced ingredients. We cannot recommend the Lake highly enough, it is just such a perfect place. Because it is privately owned, there is a greater attention to detail and it really makes SUCH a difference.
Make sure you are not on a diet as the food is fantastic!
