very nice hotel

Not impressed
Had high expectations but this place did not meet them. Not really a hotel more like an apartment/room. Our bathroom smelt horrible and room was fairly basic. Some other rooms looked quite nice though. Breakfast was nice and staff helpful but generally quite an odd place. You have to pay to see the attraction within the hotel! Syracuse also not what it was made out to be, very pleasant but dull! Not much happening there are much nicer places to see in Sicily.
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
If your are travelling around Sicily don’t go out of your way to get to Syracuse, spend more time in Taormina, Agrigento and the north coast. Far more interesting and beautiful.

a go-back-to hotel
We loved the hotel. Near the water in Ortigia. Interesting building on its own. Big room, comfy for 3 or 4. Breakfast a bit boring, never changed. But the torte del giorno, homemade cake each day, was delicious. Staff helpful, calling us on drive from airport to give directions. Staff recommendations for dinner were hit or miss. Would definitely go back there next visit.
Traveller's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Get lost on Ortigia. Like Venice, can’t get too lost. Siesta is longer than mainland Italy, everything closes. Eat lunch early or miss out altogether. Town is diamond in the rough. Worth another visit most certainly.
