Ultra Modern Hotel

We stayed here on a holiday to Pisa. Although it’s a little way from the town center there is a very good bus service from outside the hotel to the train station in Pisa. The Hotel is very futuristic and interesting. The staff were extremely helpful and welcoming. There is parking right outside, WiFi access from the rooms etc making the hotel very well equiped. It’s a shame there is no pool but the Italians don’t seem to go much on swimming anywhere.

Buy your bus tickets in advance from a Tabache (tobacco) shop. They are much cheaper. Get a batch of tickets then just validate one when you get on the bus. Buying a ticket on board is easy but costs 1.5 times as much.

Will return

Don’t get me wrong, this is a fantastic hotel. It is out of the way enough to not be plagued by tourist noise. It is within walking distance of the leaning tower (a little over three miles, takes about an hour). The public transport is fantastic, but use Lam blu bus its quicker than the rest (1 Euro for an hour is a great price too). Whatever you do, don’t buy drinks in the hotel, complete rip off (3.5 Euros for a can of Coke, 5 Euros for Peroni beer, 5.5 Euros for Corona). I would recommend taking the bus to the supermarket, again Lam Blu, then jump off after the second roundabout. The staff in the hotel spoke very good English, and were incredibly helpful when planning a walk to the tower. I was given a tourist map of Pisa when I arrived at the hotel, so if this is your first trip, make a point of asking for one if its not given to you.

Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks

Don’t eat in the hotel.. Don’t eat outside restaturants (you get charged extra). If you find yourself at the exit closest to the tower, walk a little way up the road and there is a lovely restaurant on the left. I can’t remember the name but there is a painting on the wall "Walls Kitchen" Great food, and very reasonably priced

Strange Decor

Strange modern decor- would be a smash hit with the teens and tweens. Otherwise a great place. Friendly people and a great breakfast.

Half a day is sufficient in Pisa.
