Cant wait to go back
Loved the hotel and all of its facilities. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Makes for an amazing little getaway from more crowded cities.
Find out about the free hotel shuttle. A taxi up there is roughly $80 Cdn

More relaxing than sleep!
If you want to relax I really dont think you could find anywhere better. I prefer to spend my holidays doing something and I can never sit still and relax but after half a day here I had almost wiped my mind of any troubles. Great hot springs baths, beautiful rooms, beautiful lake with cable car and hot springs to see. However there is nothing to do after 7.30pm in the evening and literally all the (very few) restaurants have closed by 8pm completely. Then you take another Onsen (hot springs bath). You can get a taxi into the nearby twon but really that defies the point. This place is to relax and for that it gets 5 stars. Don;t go if you are looking for anything else. Also dont expect the staff to speak English, you can get by with just a few words of Japanese but again if this is a problem for you, maybe this ain;t the place for you.
Traveller's tip on saving a few bucks
You can get a free shuttle bus to and from Odawara station (Japan Railways line) but you need to email the hotel in advance. Otherwise the Hakone station (the hotel is not in hakone, just in the area) is on a private rail line so you cannot get to it using a JR railways pass. Its a nice journey on the romance car from Tokyo but at the other end you will need to get a taxi to the hotel which is a good 10-15 miles away.

good service, helpful staff
Beautiful grounds, clean, staff always willing to help. Annoyed at having to pay $5 for ice in room, everything shuts down early in evening and need car or cab to get anywhere at night other than restaurant. Generally enjoyed our stay there and considered staying an extra night, but wanted to move on to another part of the country.
