Great Hotel, Great Location
Hotel had all of the modern bells and whistles. All of the amenities were new. Two night clubs on the premises. Lots of bars, restaurants and cafes within walking distance. And a block away from Petco Park. Would definitely stay here again....

Coolest Hotel in San Diego
Hard Rock Chic with a Californian twist. Awesome staff, uber-comfortable beds, fabulous 24 hour gym, excellent bars and restaurants, a stones throw from the convention center and right there in the gaslamp district - what more could you want?

Great Hotel- Bad reviews were misleading
Just wanted to take a few minutes to comment on the Hard Rock. I don’t usually review the hotels that I stay at because i have usually been more than satisfied with the accommodations. However, this time I feel that it is necessary to leave a comment because my decision to stay at the Hard Rock property was almost thwarted because of some of the negative comments that were posted. This hotel was ended up being the perfect place to stay in Gas Lamp. The location is excellent (close to shopping, dining, bars/clubs, sporting facilities, beaches, etc.). The staff was superb. Each member that we dealt with was friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The room (a balcony suite on the 10th floor) was spacious, clean, trendy, and well appointed. As far as the hotel being too young, I’d have to disagree. The professionalism of the staff seemed to make guests of all ages feel comfortable. We are 32 and 44 years old and we were made to feel right at home. Whether, having a drink in the bar or coming back from a long day on the beach, the staff was very attentive and friendly. The clubs were a bit young, but you could still find several cougars that were seizing the night. I recommend this hotel and will definitely stay here again. I suggest booking though an Expedia-type website, as the rates are much cheaper. Don’t be afraid to ask about paying a nominal fee to upgrade to a suite (or even better).
