Good value for your money

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel and would definitely stay there again. My only complaints would be that not all the waiters/waitresses spoke English, not even the basics to say "coffee or tea". The people working the front desk weren’t always fluent in English either, however one can’t always expect these luxuries in a foreign country. I appreciated that there was a free internet connection in the lobby, however it automatically signs you out every few minutes such that writing emails was difficult. The hotel is a 3 minute walk from the train station, no need for a taxi. All local attractions are also walking distance, no need for a car in this city.

It’s a hotel

We stayed here our first night in Germany after having been awake for about 31 hours, so we were ready simply for a place to sleep. The Novotel Wuerzburg fit the bill fine. It’s easy walking distance to the center of the city. Our room was quiet and comfortable. We were there during a heatwave in August, and while there was A/C in the room, it was barely able to keep up. No matter, we couldn’t stay awake enough to worry about it. If you need the "known" of a chain hotel (as we did on our first night), the Novotel is fine.

We did not have a good experience here at all. The air conditioner in our room did not work and it was much too warm and the air too stagnant to sleep comfortably, so we asked the clerk at the front desk if we could move to another room. The clerk made no apologies, only appeared incredulous and sent another hotel worker back up with us. After he played with the air conditioner and could not get it to work either, she agreed to change our room. There were no non-smoking rooms available, so we were led to a smelly smoking room which is where we unhappily stayed during out time here (again no apology, no offer to discount the rate, etc.) The location is so-so, the clerks put-out, some of the other guests looked a little shady, and the rooms were clean, but without charm. I would not recommend this hotel, but if you do go beware the breakfast! There is a large breakfast buffet served in the dining room that you are invited to when you check in...what they don’t tell you is that you will be charged 35 per person per day for it when you check out! There are no signs or menus in the dining room posting the cost and we were certainly not expecting to get hit with such an unreasonable bill. Imagine our shock, esp since we are pretty light eaters in the morning- a cup of coffee, a piece of toast and maybe an egg. Pretty much blew what we expected to "save" by staying here- our money would have been much better spent and we would have enjoyed Wurzburg so much more if we had stayed at a nicer hotel and had breakfast at one of the little cafes.

Pricey for what you get

For the money we paid, we expected something more. The hotel was in the class of a Days Inn, but far more expensive. Parking was expensive and I had to wait to get a slot. The air conditioning did not work and it was very warm at the time. I would only recommend this property in Spring or Fall when it’s not warm and not as busy.

my stay there was too short to understand up to the end. but I would recommend it.

Ideal overnight

The Novotel in Wuerzburg is a pleasant and efficient hotel in this increasingly dependable if unexciting chain. It’s well situated in a quiet street in the centre of the city close to the Residenz. It’s modern, comfortable and well appointed. Staff are helpful and check-in and check-our procedures are painless. The rooms are functional and well-appointed and the breakfast buffet was comprehensive. It comes with its own underground car park which is a real asset in this town although, of course, you pay extra for the privilege of using it.

Quiet location, quick walk

This hotel is about 10 min walk from main train station and 10-20 mins from major sights in Wuerzburg. There are not a lot of restaurants nearby. Regardless it was a relazing stay and I loved the tub and bathroom as well as the comfortable bed.

Excellent hotel

My wife and I spent one night at this hotel as an overnight stop during a journey through Germany. Initially, despite the fact that neither of us speek any German, we found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful, going that extra mile that makes any stay so much more comfortable. For example, we were given a map of Wurzburg in English and given some tips for things to see and places to go and the receptionist even ensured that we had hotel umbrellas with us as she thought it might rain (which it did!). The room itself was modern, extremely comfortable and well apponted with everything you could possibly need including a free mini bar, good quality toiletries satellite tv in English. The beds were comfortable and the hotel was nice and quiet so we had a very peaceful night indeed. Honestly, we couldn’t fault the hotel in any way other than the fact that the room service menu was limited and pricey but with being so close to the centre there was no lack of reasonably priced places to eat outside the hotel. We would definitely go back.

Theres a great little pizzaria literally just around the corner with excellent pizzas and a nice atmosphere

Great Room...ask about the breakfast

The hotel was great, the rooms were posh, and it is easy walking distance to the train station....however, when we checked out the next morning, we were told that breakfast was NOT included and it cost 15 euros a person. The breakfast was good, but 15 euros a person? Ouch. Still the hotel was great, and very convenient to everything.

It was a nice stay

The location isn’t that great. It is a little further away from the main area, but still within walking distance. The hotel was nice overall, however I think we overpaid for the lack of quality.

nice place to stay

the hotel is very nice, with all the amenities. Wurzburg is a small city and the hotel is on a quiet side street, about a 5 minute walk to the main street. the breakfast buffet is terrific, but crowded on Sundays. All in all it was a very good place to stay.

standard business hotel.

It’s a standard business hotel, clean but having not much style or cuteness. The front desk person can be helpful or stern depending who you talked to. The corridor to your room can be long and dull. The most annoying thing is the elevator music that they play everywhere! The plus is its location: it’s close to train station and downtown. But people in the court yard can be loud.

Although a little small, the room was beautiful and elegantly modern with all the amenities. I was very pleased!

It is walking distance to the main railway station with easy connection to Frankfurt airport.

Hotel Novotel Wuerzburg - Excellent Service and Modern Hotel

My wife and my parents stayed at this hotel for one night in July. The staff was very attentive to our needs and directed us to great restaurants, etc. The hotel is a modern design and recently done...all ammentities were top notch. Parking was easy and right at the hotel. I was initially somewhat concerned because it was a cheaper priced hotel, but its 4 star in my mind all around even against the good hotels of the states. I would recommend it for anyone. The only negative I could think of was that it was a new hotel with little "old Germany" feel.

The Ratskeller restaurant near the bridge downtown was excellent, great food, location and service...reasonably priced. In addition, there’s a gelato cafe on the corner across the street that was just like in Italy.

Great business hotel for kids!

We stayed for the weekend with our 1-year-old and 3-year-old. In addition to supplying the travel cot we had requested, the staff had put us in a room with a pull-out sofabed for our son. The room was clean and very comfortable, and the breakfast buffet was outstanding. I would happily stay there again!

Traveller's tip on local attractions

When visiting the Residenz, you do not have to go on a tour. If you have a good guide book (ie Rick Steves’ Germany & Austria), go through the rooms at your own pace and speed. This is very helpful if you have small, easily-bored children with you.

Nice hotel, great value.

Loved the hotel. Their computer program automatically charges 15 Euros per person per day for breakfast whether you eat it or not. If you don’t eat, they remove the charges at the end of the stay. That’s not how I would run a hotel, but that was the only issue we had.
