Good hotel, poor location

The hotel is a good quality 3/4 star affair with attentive but discrete service for the business man. I can’t fault the hotel at all and the staff are capable and helpful. The location however is poor, positioned next to the old town with no local amenities to speak of and next to extensive slum dwellings. No local cafes, shops or other distractions. If you want a quiet room to return to in the evening then this place will suit you. If you want something to do in the evening, you may be better off across the river in the new commercial (noisier) district. (You cannot see the river anymore as the local council have built a wall screening it from sight.)

Traveller's tip for business travellers

Don’t forget the state is a dry one. Let the hotel sort things out for you if you are a non Indian and want to buy alchohol.
