Excellent base for weekend trip
We checked in to the hotel at the sister hotel, The Lifeboat which was about 5 mins walk from The Old Coach House. We had lunch the Lifeboat which was delicious. We didnt actually eat at The Old Coach House although menu which was pasta based looked fine. There were plenty of good restaurants nearby.

Will definately recommend to all our friends and hope to go back soon ourselves
Booked in at The Lifeboat Inn just down the road. Went to the Old Coach House and dropped bags off in the room and had a drink and admired all the art work on the walls. Room was lovely but only had a shower. We prefered to have a bath so asked if we could be moved. Wasnt a problem at all. We were moved into the first floor of the Cottage next door. It was lovely, warm, clean and cozy. Went for a walk to the beach which was deserted apart from the odd twitcher and dog walker. Had a lovely evening meal at the Coach House which was lovely. Excellent menu to cater for all tastes. More walking on lovely beach and trip into Hunstanton shop and to see the sun set over the sea. We then ate at The Lifeboat Inn just down the road. Lovely pub full of character and again great menu and had another lovely meal. All the staff were very good. We would highly recommend staying at either The Old Coach House or The Lifeboat Inn and look forward to paying them a visit in the summer months to really enjoy their lovely deswerted beaches. Not sure if I would pay the full rate though. Better to get a deal off the internet with a late booking.

The Old Coach House, Thornham
Situated in a tranquil village this hotel offers a peaceful retreat. Décor seeks to recreate a sort of rustic old world effect, to my mind a bit of a failure. Restaurant is based on Pies, Pizzas, and Pastas. Food is innovative and very good quality. However, the range is too narrow. Lamb shank for instance comes in a pie. It was delicious but much of what is not Pizza or Pasta comes in a pie and you can have too much pastry. If you want a simple steak or chicken dish then forget it. Staff were pleasant and very helpful. Service in the hotel is good and all is clean and tidy but in our room the wardrobe was so shallow that you could not hang shirts without turning them face on. All in all very nice for a break of a few days but not sure I would want to stay there any longer.
Traveller's tip on dining
Locally there are only three eating places. The Old Coach House and the Lifeboat are under same chain ownership so no real competition. That leaves the Orange tree which is trendy, up market and expensive. Large families might find eating out expensive.
