Nice hotel, but consider the location and some other factors.

My friend and I stayed at the Kalimera hotel for three nights during August. It really was a lovely hotel, very clean and quaint. One of the reasons we booked this particular hotel, however, was for the sea view that it boasted and the fact that it was only 200 meters from the ocean. This is a bit deceiving, however. It may be 200 meters walk from the ocean, but that is straight downhill - a VERY rough climb if you’re on the return hike uphill! It was also not a very good swimming beach, as it was very rocky everywhere. If you plan to lay out and soak in the sun, this is not the place you’re looking for. The hotel itself is not in a good location. True, the bus stop is right out front, but you have to take a bus to get to Fira and then another bus to go anywhere else! Everything that you want to see is elsewhere on the island. There is basically nothing in Akrotiri unless you’re interested in the ancient ruins (no thanks). As for the hotel itself, the pool was very nice and appealing, but slightly small. The breakfast buffet was sparse, with a few cereals, yogurt, deli meats (which all tasted like bologna), cheeses, bread, and hard-boiled eggs. Nice, but it gets a bit old after the first morning or two. Also, I would agree with the other reviewers about the uncomfortable beds. They were hard as a rock. And the sheets were also hard. They desperately need to try fabric softener. The bathrooms were small - especially the showers! They were maybe a 4 sq.-foot area in the corner with a shower curtain that constantly stuck to me every second of my shower! Very annoying. Overall, the Kalimera was o.k., and may very well be perfect for some travelers, but my friend and I were disappointed that it wasn’t what we had thought it to be. I definitely would not stay there again. Even if the rooms are a little more expensive, I would try to say in Fira, Oia, or one of the towns on the East coast that have more of a resort feel with some nice sandy beaches!

3 night stay

We stayed at the Hotel Kalimera for some rest and relaxation after taking a 7 day tour of Greece. We loved it. It is in a quiet area of Santorini, just what we wanted, we had had enough of the crowds. The hotel was very clean and beautiful. The staff was helpful.

Peaceful Getaway

We stayed in Hotel Kalimera for two days and it was perfect. Our room was unique with a great view. We had a balcony that overlooked the Aegean Sea. The room was clean and air conditioned with lots of lighting throughout the room. The views from the hotel were picturesque. The pool was great with nice seats and a seating area that overlooked the pool. The pool was clean and the seats were cozy. The owners of the hotel were nice, helpful, and professional. They made our stay a wonderful experience. This family run hotel is well worth a visit. We will defiantly go back to this hotel. Thank you for the great stay.
