A lovely hotel
The hotel was lovely and spacious. The breakfast was excellent. Our only complaints would be 1. they need to stress the importance of renewing the parking pass by 8 am each day - we learned the hard way! parking ticket for 38 euros!!! 2. Our air conditioning didn’t work very well

Good for a nights stay but...
Don’t stay here for more than 1 or 2 nights. i think 4* purely based on the pool, which frankly is disappointing and very overlooked. Breakfast was basic and avoided afer 1 attempt. If the hotel looked like the foyer throughout it would be fab! That said location is perfect and staff friendly.
Traveller's tip on local attractions
There is not masses to do though a spa treatment, visit to the Alto and a meal in the garden restaurant are 3x musts. A day trip to Lucca is also highly recommended.

Overbooked and Service Lacked
Hotel was fine, not stellar. Upon arrival we were told there was a plumbing problem and they moved us to another hotel, a much nicer hotel. The nicer hotel said that they were told that our hotel was overbooked and it had nothing to do with the plumbing. The initial young woman was very apolegetic and offered dinner at the hotel as an apology for our trouble. After a night’s stay at the nicer hotel we checked out of there and returned to Plaza e Locanda Maggiore. The clerk in the morning was rude and said they could not get our luggage moved back to that hotel until 7pm. We returned to the nicer hotel and they handled our luggage without problem or attitude. The location of hotel Plaza e Locanda Maggiore was excellent. The room was fine just the room change was tiring.
