Shangri-la Hotel is an icon of high quality
This hotel although is about 20 km from Abu Dhabi city center but is by itself provide the more than what you can expect. However, you need to rent a car for easy transportation from and to the city

Abu Dhabi’s best Hotel
I went with my family including 4 children. When we landed we were picked up via their limo service from the airport. The Hotel is 15 minutes drive from the airport. This Hotel is worth every penny you pay for. The rooms are very nice and clean. The service is 1st class. For business people their have a desk and free internet connection. Their have souk next door and you can go via boat. Their also have free shuttle service to the malls 4 trips a day. The swimming pool is good with kids pool next to it and a life guard at all times. They also had a kids club.
Take advantage of free shuttle service to the malls, will save good few pounds in taxi fare

One night stopover
Very nice hotel you need to be on 3rd flr or above to get a good view of the Grand Mosque an eye catching local attraction (open for tours every morning except friday. The souq next door has number of very nice restaurants although the shopping is still to be fully let. Not much to see near by you would need to get taxi to Emirates place Marin Mall approx 30 AED.
Traveller's tip on dining
The meat Co in the souq next door offers very good steak and seafood.
