Dated but central

Overall we would use this hotel again. It is very central and the staff were great. We’d asked for a room with a view of the bay which we didn’t get but were moved after two nights ( we were staying for eight) to one which did. Breakfast was fine - typical continental with as much as you could eat. Hotel itself is dated and has obviously not had much spent on it in a long time but in a way it added to the charm of the place.

Traveller's tip on dining

There is a terrific bar/restuarant next to the entrance of the hotel called ’Photo’. The food was superb and not like the rest of the resort’s pasta and pizza experience. Free starters and glass of ’fizzy’ before the meal with a good wine list ( prices in line with average prices of the other restaurants and a very interesting menu. And, they were so friendly - unlike the the vast majority of the other places!

Great Location

Mushrooms on the bathroom ceiling were not mentioned on any review I’d read for this hotel. The offending ceiling tile was replaced the following day. Breakfast adequate for a few days stay but not a week. Some (not all) front of house staff need to be less curt!

Traveller's tip on dining

Sorrento was almost without exception excellent for pasta and pizza and always found to be reasonably priced. One was only fleeced for drinks and eating anythng other than P or P!

It was good enough for the price we paid

The hotel and room was basic standards however was clean and had amazing views of Naples Bay if you had a Relax Room with french doors and balcony. At the time of the booking it does not clarify the difference btw Standard and Relax room therefore had to pay extra upon arrival to have the relax room. The bathroom was very small with a shower cubicle which probably needed a replacement. The buffet breakfast included in the price was very simple ie. continental style so dont expect your full english style breakfast, however, this was more than adequate for us. Cristina and the Night Manager were very helpful and friendly however not all of the front office employees were the same.

The hotel was situated right in the Centre of Sorrento, this was exactly what we were looking for and was within walking distance of the train station, buses to Amafi Coast, Port, Supermarket, shops, restaurants and bars. Pls note, after Summer is over it can be very quiet, therefore if you are looking to go out partying the best time to go is btw June-August and also the weather maybe more predictable (it was still mid 20s - but we had thunder & lighting)!
